The latest readers survey conducted by UK luxury travel magazine, Conde Nast, has listed New Zealand as the number one destination in the world.
New Zealand has consistently ranked in the top five favourite countries for the past five years and beat last years number one destination, India, who now slips into second place.
Surprisingly Auckland International Airport was listed sixth favourite airport in the world. Although the international terminal half of Auckland airport is truly of modern world standard, the domestic operation could be described as “second world†standard.
Although the domestic terminal has gone through a major expansion and renovation, facilities are still cramped and overcrowded.
Clearly the readers survey did not travel domestically or experience the airport taxi service. Taxis que patiently for hours at both terminals but more often than not they have little local knowledge of hotel locations and major city streets names.
